HTML Toolbox Advanced has all the features of HTML Toolbox, plus a suite of additional features designed to enhance your site scanning capabilities. There are two levels of HTML Toolbox Advanced: Gold and Platinum. The differences in these offerings is explained below, and in the Feature Matrix.

HTML Toolbox Advanced allows you to scan significantly more pages on your site. The HTML Toolbox Platinum offering allows a maximum of 5,000 pages per scan, and the HTML Toolbox Gold offering allows 1,000 page scans. There is no monthly page limit, and scan results are available for two months.

HTML Toolbox Advanced allows you to scan multiple domains. Unlike HTML Toolbox, where your subscription is locked to a single domain, HTML Toolbox Advanced, both the Gold and Platinum offerings, allow you to scan any domain you would like. You can create and save test configurations, and each configuration can point to a different URL within your site, or to a URL in a different domain. You can also configure domains to treat as local, and URLs to include or exclude. Taken together, these features allow you to customize where our scanning spider will go into your site to get you the results you need.

Some websites require authentication before allowing access to the site. HTML Toolbox Advanced has the capability of using POST to send data to a login form, and then continue scanning. NTLM authentication is also available. These features can be a little tricky to set up, so HTML Toolbox Advanced also has an export/import feature. You can export your test configuration, and send it to customer support. An engineer will look at the configuration, and your site requirements, and assist you with the proper settings in your test configuration.

You may have your site configured to keep robots out. While this is prudent site management, it would prevent HTML Toolbox from scanning your site. HTML Toolbox Advanced has the capability of configuring your tests to ignore the robots.txt file on the target site. While this is not recommended for sites that are not your own, it does ease the configuration of the robots.txt file so that you can go ahead and use HTML Toolbox Advanced to scan your site.

HTML Toolbox Advanced has a powerful feature that allows you to scan for the presence or absensce of a string in your web pages. The search strings can be plain text, or a Regular Expression.

An example of using this feature: you want to make sure that none of your pages still contain a copyright date from last year. You configure the test to scan for pages that contain the text "Copyright, ". Alternatively, to make sure all pages have a copyright notice for this year, you could configure the test to search for all pages that do not contain "Copyright, "

HTML Toolbox Advanced Platinum can scan your site for privacy and security issues. Sensitive data fields in forms can be identified and presented for your review. The presence of links to your privacy policy page can be verified. The presence of P3P compact policy, and policy reference files can be checked. A presentation of the cookies discovered on the page is also presented. Using this feature, you can get an overview of what data you are collecting, what cookies your site is presenting your visitors, and whether your pages conform to your internal privacy policies.
